Recruitment and Compliance

Setting High Standards in Early Childhood Education

At Oz Education, we believe that exceptional early childhood education starts with exceptional people.

Our recruitment, compliance, and onboarding practices are designed not only to meet regulatory standards, but to set a new benchmark for quality, integrity, and safety across the sector.

We are committed to building teams of highly skilled, passionate educators who reflect our values of care, accountability, and continuous improvement.

Our Commitment to Safety & Compliance

Child safety is at the heart of everything we do. Our policies go well beyond basic requirements — because we believe children deserve more than minimum standards.

Rigorous Pre-Employment Screening

  • All candidates undergo a multi-layered safety screening process prior to employment:
  • Working With Children Check (WWCC) — verified and tracked through automated systems
  • National police checks and cross-checks against barred persons registers
  • Reference checks with previous childcare employers
  • Verification of identity and full employment history
  • Mandatory child protection training before starting work
  • Qualification validation to meet or exceed ACECQA standards

Oz Education maintains a zero tolerance policy for any breaches of child safety or supervision requirements.

A Recruitment Process Built for Quality

We don’t just fill roles. We build teams of capable, caring professionals who are aligned with our values.

Our recruitment process includes:

  • Structured interviews using behavioural and scenario-based questions
  • Where possible, on-site practical observations to assess interactions with children and teams
  • Cultural fit assessment, ensuring alignment with our commitment to safety, inclusivity, and educational excellence
  • Qualification and certification checks
  • A clear focus on emotional intelligence, ethical decision-making, and communication skills

We look for people who go beyond the role – educators who see each day as a chance to positively shape young lives.

Comprehensive Onboarding & Mentorship

Every new team member at Oz Education receives a comprehensive induction that covers:

  • Child safety policies & procedures
  • Workplace Health & Safety (WHS) protocols
  • Emergency response and first aid
  • Educational programming and the Early Years Learning Framework (EYLF)
  • Our expectations around professionalism, ethics, and communication

New educators are paired with experienced mentors throughout the probation period to provide support, feedback, and guidance.

From day one, they will be empowered with the tools and training needed to succeed

Ongoing Compliance & Internal Audits

We conduct regular internal audits across all centres, led by our dedicated central Compliance Managers, who operate independently of centre leadership.

These audits include:

  • Surprise visits and walkthroughs
  • Review of ratios, supervision practices, and safety protocols
  • Incident reporting and follow-up reviews
  • Environment and facility assessments

This proactive approach ensures we identify and address any issues before they become risks — and it creates a workplace you can be proud to be part of.

Continuous Professional Development

At Oz Education, learning never stops. All team members participate in:

  • Ongoing professional training in early childhood education, behaviour guidance, safety, and wellbeing
  • Quarterly compliance refreshers, including first aid, child protection, and emergency response
  • Internal quality reviews, where educators contribute to improvements
  • Leadership pathways and upskilling opportunities

They’ll grow — not just in skill, but in confidence and career progression.

A Culture of Care, Respect & Accountability

We believe that a great workplace is built on trust, transparency, and teamwork.

Our educators are supported, heard, and included in shaping how we deliver quality care. Through open communication and clear policies, we ensure that every team member feels safe, respected, and professionally valued.

Because when educators thrive, children thrive.
