At Oz Education, we are committed to providing high-quality child care at a cost that is accessible for families.
The Australian Government’s Child Care Subsidy (CCS) helps reduce out‑of‑pocket fees, making early learning more affordable for eligible families.
How the Child Care Subsidy Works
The amount of CCS your family receives depends primarily on your combined household income, number of children in care, and your individual circumstances.
- Families earning up to approximately $85,279 can receive the maximum subsidy of 90%
-
For incomes above this, the subsidy gradually reduces by 1% for every $5,000 earned
- Families earning around $535,279 or more are not eligible for CCS
This means most families receive some level of support, with higher subsidies provided to lower‑income households.
More Support for Families with Multiple Children
If you have more than one child aged 5 or under in care, you may receive a higher subsidy (up to 95%) for your second and younger children.
This provides additional financial relief for growing families.

New in 2026: 3-Day Guarantee
From 5 January 2026, important changes make child care even more accessible:
- All CCS‑eligible families can now access at least
72 hours (3 days) of subsidised care per fortnight - This applies regardless of work, study, or activity levels
- Some families may be eligible for up to 100 hours per fortnight depending on their circumstances
This change replaces the previous activity test and ensures every family has access to a minimum level of affordable early learning.
Additional Support (ACCS – Transition to Work)
Eligible families transitioning to work, study, or training may qualify for Additional Child Care Subsidy (ACCS):
- Available for families with income up to approximately $85,279
- Can provide up to 95% subsidy support in certain circumstances
What You Need to Do
If you already receive CCS, you don’t need to do anything – your entitlement is automatically updated.
If you’re new to CCS, you can apply through Services Australia via myGov.
